Re: Bypassing PHP-Nuke Membership Restrictions (Score: 1) by Zhen-Xjell on Monday, November 10 @ 21:08:00 CET (User Info | Send a Message) http://castlecops.com | I can understand your concern, but this does is not different than anything else. PHP-Nuke and phpBB together do not even add up to the exploits just for Microsoft. Even Cisco has had their share of IOS exploits. The list goes on to Symantec, Zone Labs, etc. Every product is vulnerable, whether you pay hundreds of thousands of dollars (Oracle, Novell) or get open source (Nuke, phpBB), or even pay forums (vBulletin).
It is what it is. |

You say 'I am not an expert', but from what I've seen as far as your posts, helping people over and over, you have become much more of an expert than you ever thought you would.
I'm not putting down your frustration, I think that's part of dealing with open source, but with open source, at least you are not outside the loop, you're right in the middle of everything. Yes, I've got much better things to do with my time that to implement hacks and fixes, but Nuke has opened the door to getting on the internet with an interactive site that gets traffic. I love Nuke, and all of you guys and girls who work on making it better. You know, with just a little bit of LEARNING, people can delete phpBB as a module, and have Nuke as a standalone (if they want it).
It's tough to develop a module that's worth it's weight in beans without touching the core, but without even one mod, the core has been modified, fixed, patched, repatched more than a few times. We're all a work in progress, and so is Nuke.
So, don't let your doubts get in the way of enjoying this all. Look at how much you've learned! |
