Brandnew the devs from phpmyadmin.net come up with version 2.8.0-beta1 [2006-01-29].

phpmyadmin phpMyAdmin 2.8.0-beta1 is released: "Welcome to this first beta for phpMyAdmin 2.8.0. The jump from 2.7.0 to 2.8.0 is partly because from now on, versions with the same X.Y number will have the same feature set, while the third number will be for bug fixes. Also, 2.8.0 has a new web-based setup script."
