GoogleTap Versions By the Numbers
Add OnsAudioslaved writes "There are quite a few versions of GoogleTap currently circulating at the moment. Since I was curious about the performance of them each, I ran some tests on nuke69.audioslaved.com to see exactly how the different versions timed for their page generation numbers. Which version came out on top you ask? There is no clear cut winner, it depends moreso on your wants and needs, though the page generation numbers slightly lean towards GT-NExtGEn, I welcome you to look at all closely and make your own informed decision. This test was done on a barebones Nuke 6.9 site generating 10 page loads per index.php/html and the forums.html.

It would be extremely interesting to see the numbers on a much larger site with a few thousand members.

Here are my results coupled with what I believe are Pro's and Con's of each version, the number of conversions that were called to take place during the page load and the average of the 10 page load generation times for the index.php/html and the forums.html.

These figures are based on a clean install of Nuke 6.9 using each version of GoogleTap available.
Forums on install contained only 1 post. 2 site members total, 1 news article and 1 admin message.
Main Menu was left at default block-Modules.php for cvs version of GT and 10-22-03 distro, but was changed to the block-GT_Modules.php Main Menu for GT-NExtGEn test. All other blocks were left intact for testing.

Testing of pages is based on 10 page loads in IE 6 browser (Location Waikiki, Hawaii, US) to nuke69.audioslaved.com (Location: Florida, US) of the index.php/html page and forums.html page. Times are indicative of server load at the time of testing (5 additional sites housed on server) and in no way represent what results will resemble on your server for your website.

I am looking for a guinea pig to run the same test on a larger site, so please email me if you are willing to sacrifice 10-15 minutes for this test. Thank you all.
