Search engine rankings and phpnuke.
General Newsstorebuilder writes "I'm using phpnuke to build several affiliate websites and I've implemented the googletap feature. For three months my website rankings have gone up and down as I have moved modules around, inserted text in the header etc and generally tried to figure out how google in particular indexes your phpnuke pages.

I could really do with some help with this. My main site is spidered every day
so any changes that I make show up in a couple of days - but the way that google
displays the search results needs some serious looking at to discover how the
information is being interpretated by google.
Many people have implemented google tap but we need to take this a stage further
so that we can get our Nuke powered sites ranked higher. If you are not spidered
very often then it is even more important for you to know this info as you get
fewer go's in a year at making a successful change.
Often when I look in google search results for a phpnuke powered site all I
find is a bunch of results that say the same thing "website powered by
phpnuke" or some other info taken from the footer or header.
If you are interested in helping research how to make your phpnuke powered
site rank higher in search engines then I have opened a section on the forum
at http://www.storebuilder.co.uk
to discuss. I'd really like some people to post up their URL's so that we can
take a look at what's happening.
For a limited time I'm offering to do a free webposition report if you also
post up your top five keywords with your URL.

Regards
Tony Cooper

I believe you are experiencing what is known as the Google dance.
It has been going on now for months now and some people believe it to be an attempt to identify keyword spammers etc. Because many other search engines pull from google you'll notice your rank dance on some other SE's also.
I wouldn’t weigh your rank against any website changes to heavily at this time due to the ongoing changes in their algorithms.
If you do a search for “google dance” you should find a few pages that will shed some light on the subject.
Regards
Steve
