Blocks: RECEPTION & MESSENGER BLOCK
Add OnsTonino writes "Since I was not fully satisfied in the way the PM popup window notification was operating, (only visible if the user has logged into forum).
I decided to implement a new notification with auditable and visible warnings soon the user/member logs into the portal. (PM = Private Message module)

The main reason for not been satisfied with the PM default notification, simply because the user/member once logged into a portal, occasionally goes straight into the forum module to see if  there are new private messages, or neither he/she will look into a block section where are displayed private messages statistics (providing that portal can display such block/s).
Therefore by modifying 80% the Site visitor's block (thanks to NukeCops), and by implementing the Messenger features I created a new block named "Reception & Messenger " v1.

FEATURES:

RECEPTION & PM MESSENGER BLOCK
VIEWED BY A MEMBER WITH NEW PRIVATE MESSAGES

ONCE LOGGED INTO A PORTAL
- Centre page popup window email notification (by reusing the default PM popup window)
- Sound alert (NEW)

WHILE IN THE RECEPTION BLOCK
- Animated email image linked to the PM module
- (The following message)
Hi " username" you have x number new email waiting (NEW)
- x read messages
(x= for the existing read messages located into your PM inbox)
- Go to your mailbox link
- Member IP address
- + all the standard Membership info etc.

RECEPTION & PM MESSENGER BLOCK
VIEWED BY A MEMBER WITHOUT NEW PRIVATE MESSAGES

- Member IP address
- Animated info image linked to the PM module
+ this message: Sorry "username" you have no new email (NEW)
- x read messages (as above)
- Go to your mailbox link - Membership with : New today - new yesterday etc
- Who's online: Visitors and members - The messenger image - Members list online

RECEPTION & PM MESSENGER BLOCK
VIEWED BY A VISITOR

Standard member login box and link for membership registration.

HOW TO TEST THE MESSENGER IN OUR SITE
( applicable only if registered )

- Once registered and logged in, look into the "Reception Messenger"
block (left column block )and click on your username (listed below the messenger icon)
- You will be directed to the private message module, fill in and post the test message
- Soon after your message is posted, you will see the message " Your message has been sent + an animation image" at this point don't click any link, just wait 5 seconds and you will be redirected to the portal front page (we tweaked the redirection back to the portal front page and not to the PM default "Sendbox " page) and you will see the messenger in action.

For demo and download from here"
