http://www.alexa.com/site/site_stats/signup
and display your ranking on your site.
You now just go to your site and see your site ranks without having to install the toolbar.

After reading this poll I investigated more about alexa and I think it isnt very relaible. It collects the traffic (or other data) from the users who use Alexa toolbar. So if you have a site related to search engines or something like nukecops then it is possible that most of the visitors have the toolbar, but if you have a site called internet/computer for dummies.com then obviously Alexa ratings will be bad......no matter how much traffic ur site recceives....
kjcdude... isnt lower ranking (that number) better for Alexa? i have a 6 digit number. |

It's an Amazon company.
The are a Data Miner (yes they sell non-aggregate information).
The toolbar needs to be installed to allow the tracking (shades of spyware...).
A LOT of anti-spyware acknowledges it's spyware.
Alexa toolbar only works with IE. So it only measures these users.
Since IE generally means Windows its pretty much only looking at a percentage of the internet users. What percentage is open for debate (and another topic)
Not picking sides, I use Alexa too...I also go to the dentist... =)

The fact is this, the more "Alexa Toolbar users" that go to your site, the better your ranking will be. If you get a million hits a day but only have about 100 Alexa toolbar users, your site will be ranked much lower then a site getting 20,000 hits a day with 1,000 users being Alexa Toolbar users. |
