Is there anything technical I should worry about if I choose to send out over 100 emails.

To be more specific, these are not random emails about penis enlargement and home mortgages, they are emails I manually and methodically copied and pasted one by one from a site that gives users the option of hiding their emails. Those that did not use the option got copied.

So I know for a fact they are in the same field my site offers resources about.

What are the ethical implications?
What are the technical implications?

Will my future emails be labeled spam?

Any smarter way to do this?

Well as far as im aware if you send lets say 'Mr X' an email Without him signing up for it by joining your site or registering for a newsletter etc etc...
It is classed as spam and is against the law (apparently) well in Europe anyway dunno about the US.

Etical issues: I suppose its like owning a computer store and walking into a rivals computer store and anouncing over the loud speaker what your store offers Laughing . But hey if you can live with it Smile

Technical issues: just need a good Host, Site & definetly email provider.

Will future emails be considerd spam?: Only real answer is if the person receving the email considers it spam then yes otherwise no.

Smarter way: What about an affiliation with the site you got the emails off? or perhaps you can post a topic in there forums and include a link to your site?

there are many other options to many to list I suppose you just got to find the 1 that suits you best Good luck Smile

Wow. Thanks those are some really good ideas. i will take these site up on that instead of the guerilla tactics. I need my site to maintain its credibility.

It could be considered spam. I would stay clear of it.

It is spam and it's quite annoying Smile I've received stuff like that and I was very mad and deleted the crap without even reading it. A nice thing happened when I read one and it advertised a new karate site in my country. I went there and to my surprise I've seen MY articles there, without any refference to my site. So imagine the young man received a nice message and after 2 days he put the aknowledgement. Sometimes spam turns against you Wink

Rule of thumb for life:

If you have to ask if some action is legal and/or ethical.....90% of the time, the answer is no.
