forum folder images and also advertising problem, pleasehelp

Hello, i usually roam around and look for help i need through others that have asked same or similar questions but I am having trouble on this one.

First, im starting to notice the folder images on my forums seem to be stuck on the folder_new.gif. So theres no way to quickly see through the folder image if there is a new post. Im guessing the problem is in the theme, im using zoneCopper and have had to change a few other things in it already. I really need help on what to change to make this fix.

Second i am having an advertising module issue with this theme as well. I'd really rather not use the advertising block, if possible i'd rather modify the theme to use the header and footer. I read somewhere else about this but the thread ended before it was helpful. What do i need to modify to implement this module in the theme i already have?

1) Are all folders showing as new posts? Probably indicates your cookie settings may be wrong or your server time is off

2) Use something like
echo ads(0);
in your theme.php
