Hello,

Newbie.

I have had 6.5 running perfectly and then I managed to mess up adding a new module. since then I have deleted all files/directories and the database and now when i do a fresh install the admin logs me out.

it logs me in but when I click on any link it sends me back to admin.php

totally baffled

any ideas?

Eddie

When you deleted all your files, did you delete a .htaccess file, perchance and forget to restore it? I would recommend that rather than a fresh install, you just restore your files from your last working backup.

Also, do a search in the forums for 'admin loop', as it sounds like that is what you are experiencing.

I only deleted the files that were installed by the original zip file.

I now get this:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: message_die() in /html/db/db.php on line 88

Any Ideas

Thanks

Did you reedit your config.php file with the correct MySQL settings? That error means that nuke can't connect to MySQL.

yes I changed all this. have checked and double checked.

it seems to be a bit temperamental? Earlier I repeatedly unzipped the install file until it worked - and eventually it did. now it doesn't again.

All this started when I install Easyup module on my first, successful install. Can't see that making a difference at this stage as it's all been deleted.

I am unzipping using this

tar zxvf PHP-Nuke-6.5.tar.gz.tar

still don't get this as my first install last friday was hassle free and worked fully - i don't know what's changed?

confused

Well, as I said, the message_die() indicates that MySQL can't be reached with those parameters.

Hi thanks for your help.

do you know...

a) ...whether an installation of 6.5 leaves a file anywhere outside of the root directory that would mess up future installs?

today i re-installed everything but used an alternative directory name and all is fine again.

b) anything about Easyup module. I would like my client to be able to upload from their hard drive in the downloads section. I think Easy up does this but is it okay to use? I think it may have effected my first install

Thanks again - appreciated!

You are the one who places the files in your web directory. There is no install other than that. So, the files are wherever you put them.
