Host thinks it's not switched on, and if it isn't switched on - they won't be able to change it.

So, I uninstalled it.

Is there anything I can do?

THats a bit rough mate.

Your host thinks???? Your host should know.

If I was in your shoes (and I was paying someone to host my site)... I would ring/email your host, escalate the problem to the manager; Don't muck round talkin to the wrong people.

Explain to him/her that mod_rewrite is an important tool for internet marketing and Search Engine Optimisation.
And that you are disapointed with there company, because you thought It was aligned to your needs. And now you realise that they (the host) seems to be a static business that is not moving with the times. (and doesn't even know what services they do or don't offer)

Remind him/her that the internet is a dynamic environment and never stays still.

Tell them the customer is always right.

Visualise your success b4 you do it.

Jim

The part about "the host think..." you mean they run the thing and don't even know what's on or off? Rolling Eyes
