After downloading and installing a snap of BetaNC yesterday i was going through to see if there were any bugs i found 2 so far, 1 the servey module, which i just checked and seems to have been fixed yesterday evening, and 2, the admin panel on the forum does not recognize the admin as a forum admin too.
These are just a couple of things i have found. The reason for this post is becuase i think it would be nice if there was another forum title for errors or bugs directly related to BetaNC instead of posting them in bug reports and here.
Just a little input.

Hi, lets keep all this in the betaNC forum for now. As it stands, the betaNC bundle is about to go thru a massive upgrade enhancement. |

Cool. Hopefully you will take the 'beta' out of 'betaNC', or, make it so one doesnt have to name their site path betaNC. |

We'll see what happens.. If anything like that changes I need to ensure everyone who is currently using it will not break. |

Yes., most certainly. Do you feel the possibilty of making the path configurable (with the default being 'betaNC' of course) from within NC_CVS_Update.sh?
Here's why-
This would eliminate the need that users Must have secure shell/telnet in order to use the CVS, as then they could even do a nuke install using only cron and running NC_CVS_Update.sh. (I've installed two nuke sites, from scratch, using the cvs - works great ). The only reason one can't do it now without shell access is because of having to create symbolic links. (Not to mention you have to teach many of them linux, too, to make their way around their host.) Making the /betaNC/ part of the path configurable would bring NCnuke to more of the masses.
No symbolic links, no linux- just cron.
No doubt you have some better ideas in mind. Like maybe even cvs.one-click install.... who knows. Im just spittin out ideas. |

Yes going forward with 7.0 bundle release will offer alternatives. Certainly like you said a one click CVS install would be highly ideal. |

.......oooo i'm getting excited now.... I can see it.... and there would be a link in the nuke admin section that you could set it to auto-update as well as set the frequency of autoupdates, or you could set it off so it would even act as a manual-upate... yes, I can see it already.
-XEULAS (I think I also see everyone on the staff at nukecops getting a pay raise too! Yes, I'm sure of it now... and it will be at least DOUBLE what you get now! NO, make that TRIPLE!) |

You seem to be preety exicted about this future version Xeulas.
Good idea to have that option of auto update built into the preferences. |

Hiya guys,
As you can see by my “Joined Date” I have been looking into PHP Nuke for some time trying to figure out the best install option for my website. And each time I install a test site I either find bugs or change my mind and wait for the “Next BNC Release”, Now I want to do it “For Real” and just when I’ve about made my mind up I find posts like

and now I’m really confused again..
If I could get a straight answer here I’ll be happy to go ahead and install the real thing.
The modules I’ll want to install are as follows;
An Add on for fishing Articles with picture upload support. HTML Area?
A Gallery. Coppermine?
A Classifieds. NukeC?
An Add on for fishing reports. Stories, Jokes, Fishing Tips, weather, Etc. No Idea Yet?
My Questions are,
With all the regular updates by BNC, what happens if one of these add-ons or a new theme doesn’t like an update and kills the site?
What install would you recommend and when BNC 7 is released will it be easy for a nuke newbie to upgrade a live website?
When do you think BNC 7 will be out?
The way the site is now takes far to much manual editing and I just cannot keep on top of it so I’d really like to upgrade it to a nuke site ASAP I’ve been stewing over this for about 3 months and I’m ready to take the plunge, I just don’t know what road to take there are just so many different versions of Nuke.
Many thanks for reading yet another post.
Kindest Regards
Steve |

The NCnuke version should be kept to a MINIMUM of addons.
Not only for minimal storage, transfer time, and easier setup, but mostly because not everyone wants all the same addons. You can easily addon the addons that you want afterward. Maybe in the future there could be an cvs.addons .....
[... and why hasnt anyone written a module/block INSTALLER yet? (sounds like something right up Disipal's ally:wink: ). We could get these things a little more standarized with some organization.] |

| Xeulas, you seem to not be good with PHP like me. |
Well.... I hold my own and am always learning. I've created a few pretty popular addons Google AdSense Blocks, Link To Us, and a few others. There's a lot I don't know too! I find I have major gaps in ALL my knowledge... probably because I've learned everything I know from cartoons. |
