I like oscommerce. But if your primary purpose of the site is ecommerce you might be wise to skip nuke and just setup the cart. Keeping up with changes in code with nuke on its owns a full time job.
http://www.oscommerce.com/
Though there are several good nuke carts available. Oscommerce is great because its scaleable from 1 product to an inifinite number and has many great tools available to make management easier ie quickbooks export plugin ect... like nuke though its coding is in need of optimization and tightening. Though unlike nuke these changes will come from within

Can it be used with Nuke 6.5? In a frame or something? or ??
My site sweetquads.com is already up and going. It would take a PITA to change it. |

You can probably use osc2nuke.org version would be the easiest way to get your users ect... all back in. I would imagine they either have an update script or instructions available for updating using a spreadsheet program or something???
Their sites not coming up for me just now.... but I'm sure it will soon. Otherwise their files are hosted at sourceforge in the cvs tree's. |

osc2nuke has been down for quite some time and is, as nearly as I can tell, defunct. I'll suggest osc4nuke (or the free version, oscnuke) at www.phpnukeservices.com. For full disclosure, yes, I'm associated with www.phpnukeservices.com.

Virgil, are you saying sweetquads should use osc4nukeMS because he already has a site up and he can just add it as a module? oscnukeMS looks to be it's own package for those who dont have php nuke already. Also, how does this compare with http://www.oscnukelite.org ? I am not associated with them, just looking for the best cart for my php nuke 7.0 site.
Thanks! |

Both oscnukeMS 3.0 (free) and osc4nukeMS 2.5 (paid) are add-ons to an existing phpnuke site. I added it on to the site you see in my sig (though it was all done at once... it was still an add-on).
osc2nuke started as offshoot of osc4nuke when the osc4nuke author disappeared for a while. It's been interesting to watch the situation between the two groups.
As nearly as I can tell, oscnukelite also got its start from the latest version of oscnukeMS, though I haven't examined it enough to be certain. I can tell you that at least one person using oscnuke posted a fix to a bug in the phpnukeservices.com forums and later amended that posting to indicate the fix was to be attributed to oscnukelite staff. oscnukelite wasn't up and running when the fix was originally posted (as far as I know) but the fix was to a modded function which tells me they've got at least some of the code base.
Sounds like the same story as was true of osc2nuke. I've downloaded their code, but I haven't looked at it closely enough to know whether they went from the oscnuke or osc2nuke codebase. Since I know that osc2nuke was based upon some older code, I suspect they started with oscnuke. From my cursory examination, I don't think oscnukelite's offering has integrated the phpnuke and oscommerce accounts, so I'm thinking they started with the oscnuke code. Pure speculation, though. As I said, I haven't looked closely enough.

It is a little confusing. To add fuel to the fire oldpa also has released his version of osc merged with phpnuke but to be honest I haven't even done a test install as nuke has been way to flakey for me to consider using it on a production site. Seriously a code freeze and focus on stablizing the core is in order!

Seriously consider installing your cart of choice outside of nuke. It will save you tons of grief in the long run. If your products are competetive your members won't mind. Also an added benefit will be doing mods and updates will be much easier for both sites.
Good Luck! |

But the problem is i dont know anything about nothing, how would the e-com side look? Would it have the same theme as my Nuke site? would my Nuke members have to log-in regester twice? |

It appears oscnukeMS 3.0 (free) has more functionality than does the osc4nukeMS 2.5 (paid) version... am I reading this correctly? What are the main differences in your opinion?
And looks like you are right with oscnukelite, it is not an integrated nuke module yet, though some testing is supposed to be ongoing.
Thanks so much for your help. |

no, they have the same functionality, but osc4nuke MS 2.5 has the added benefit of integrated accounts between osCommerce and phpNuke. Additionally, that is where other pre-installed contributions will be included. For instance, 2.7 will include an Affiliate module and the famous Product Attributes contribution. These are both available as contributions to osCommerce, but we (I) have done the work of integrating these two specific contributions into the osc4nuke package.

They would not share themes (would look different) and they would have to log in twice. If using oscnuke3.0, they would share themes, but would still have separate logins. If using osc4nuke, they would share themes and have integrated login.

I think this whole topic (Ecommerce) deserves its own forum. ZX what ya say?
1 out of 20 news articles or so lately have been directly related to this topic! |

Can anybody compare the cart offered by Rainbow Brite? How does it compare to osc4nuke?
How hard is it to set up osc4nuke? |
