Ok, being that both my sites together see more than 200,000 hits daily I've found that protector is increasing page load times dramatically. On http://computercops.biz the times were going from on average 1 second to greater than 17 (range 8-35).

I've also noticed a lesser strain on NC than on CCSP due to the amount of sessions.

CCSP on averge has 1500 sessions active at any time compared to NC's 400. The AdminBan doesn't even come up for CCSP.

Guess this translates into optimizing includes/blocker.php such that high volume sites do not see performance loss.

In the meantime, I had to disable protector. Sad

I recently did some work on a clients site and moved him from server to server. I waited on importing those tables till I had the rest in because they had to go bit by bit. We deactivated the Protector so thier wouldnt be any errors while he was checking things out and he was so amazed at the server speed. Then I told him that it wasnt the server and explained what I had done. I have to say that was one of the biggest database tables I have seen and when I finnally talked him out of using it his page was loading from 5 to 10 seconds faster on average. He isnt quite as big 1500 users online at once so I could only imagine..

Thanks telli, this reaffirms that protector in its current state is not optimized for large volume sites. The code needs to be optimized certainly for peformance. If we can increase speed significantly on a high traffic site such as CCSP, then I am sure it will not even be noticed on smaller scale portals.

I dont have that much traffic...abt. 15,000 hits a day and my page gen time was like 11-13 sec. I think the tracking of the page visits by every visitor is just waste of resources.

Yes that will be nice too.

Also, protector has been enabled earlier again due to some table indexes mister sent me. Notice, both sites are running fairly well with these updates.

Yes everything is active and running on both sites. Nice eh? Not sure if it is as optimal as we can get on the table indexes, but lets iron that out if possible.

take out the include blocker.php in your header to get loads back to normal.

Table indexes! That is the key. I've got them here and at CCSP running no problems. Mister will release it along with the enhancements in the newer version -- to be included with the bundle.
