Is there a way to add blocks like latest topics on a index.html page?

I want it so that people see the latest topics on my main page before the nuke site, for that dont I have to use index.html?

I have never gotten block information to display successfully on a html page. Not saying it can't be done.....but I certainly don't have a clue how to do it....

However, you could put the topic module on your home (index.php), instead of the News, and the latest story submitted to each will be the one's at the top of each topic.
