I know there are loads of posts on this topic as I have been through most of them. Does anyone else know of any other solutions to this problem. I have tried deleting all the cookie information and renaming the cookie etc (renaming the cookie never actually seems to make a difference when I view my cookies). I have also tried the alternative fix of editing includes/sessions.php and modules/forumes/viewtopic.php and viewforum.php. I am running nuke 7.7 patch 3.0 and phpbb version 15.

Well after asking my users a lot of questions I think I may have stumbled on something. Some of them appear to click the link to forums in the modules block or at the top of the page as oppposed to clicking the forum 'main' button or the 'return to forum index text' and so it appears they are wiping out their session id but as far as they are concerned they were just clicking the link so all unread posts it now thinks are read. I know it isn't a solution as I still think there is a problem if someone goes somewhere else in the page they don't want to miss out on forum posts but it is still something to consider.
