Whats all these new nukes i see around? NSN nuke, Nuke senital and whatever else, i forget. Is phpnuke a thing of the past??
I am trying to build a site for my band, and im having a hard time finding all the blocks and modules that i have used in the past on previous websites. I went to the coppermine site, and it seems they dont even have a version for phpnuke anymore. The coppermine gallery was nice, came with the random scrolling pictures blocks and all that good stuff.
Same with a good calendar. Icant find a calendar anywhere that comes with the block that scrolls the upcoming events...
Whats the deal? Where did all the good stuff go?
I hear alot of people talking about mambo too..any good?

NSN = NukeScripts.net, a major site for phpNuke scripts. Then have Sentinel, which is a very good security addon for phpNuke. I believe they have their own package of phpNuke with integrated Sentinel.
No, many people still use phpNuke. While Coppermine support was dropped because of security issues, there are many other gallery projects that are still active. I recommend Menalto's Gallery.
I can't say about Calendar scripts really, I don't use them myself.
There are still lots of good stuff around. It's just the Nuke community has gotten bigger, so its harder to find sometimes. Some projects are new, and some projects have been stopped. That's just the way life is.
Yes, there are actually many other forks of phpNuke, people using phpNuke as a base for their own CMS. That is to be expect. But really how much support do you get from them? What happens when there is no community around? I feel phpNuke has the strongest community that will stick around, and while it may not match the features of the 'newest latest greatest' CMS, it still is a good if you're willing to dedicate the time to use and maintain it.
Mambo is dead, so I figure. Their developers had a split of sorts, and they are going to a new name I believe. While I find Mambo particularly troublesome to tweak, you may find it suits your needs.
