Maybe you could go to language english.php and remove
define("_HOMEPROBLEMUSER","There is a problem right now on the Homepage. Please check back later.");

But please check with advanced user first

It means that there's not a main module set to Home. Do so in your Admin panel->Modules

I went to the module administration and clicked on put in home, and confirmed and when i go to home this is still there. Ideas?

I think the problem started for me when I deleted the original news from the link given where it asks you to create a superuser. That left the home blank. For some reason it wouldn't let me set a new home. I had to actually go into the sql and find the table and add a record. Once i added a record the system would then let me set a new home using the modules control panel. fyi
