I want the latest and most secured base phpNuke distribution. I was hacked recently, and that's fine -- they worked with me to convince me that phpNuke Platinum was crap. Hey, I know this -- just didn't realize how hole-y it was. So now I'm looking to start anew. Possibly migrating the db, probably starting from scratch.
Raven's new release looks nifty, but so does the Patched series from nukeresources.com. Any and all of the security products would be awesome, such as Sentinel. I've looked at a few releases and while I can tweak php/html/sql fairly well and consider myself familiar with phpNuke starting with v5.5, I can't tell which one might be right for me at this point.
Advice? Pick Raven's or Patched and go with it? This isn't an immediate need, but I want to have a base form of the new site set up and ready for news/forum use by the end of January.
EDIT: DaDaNuke.org's release is also one I'm looking at.
If this topic should go elsewhere, please let me know where. Thanks all! Great community, as always.

Raven's release does have the Patched files and Sentinel, along with some other addons. If you want those features, then go ahead and install it.
If you like to maintain control over everything you install, just use 7.6 and the latest Patched files. You can installed other addons such as Sentinel seperately.
I can't say about DaDaNuke. If you like their features and feel that they have good support, go for it
Okay. Good advice and all, but is there a thread anywhere that compares the differences?
dadanuke's version appears to be Patched with a few bugfixes that were missed. Patched is base + patches. Raven's is Patched plus some additional features.
The above is a very short summary of what I could discover about the three packages mentioned, but with a little more detail it would serve as a decent way of informing people about the various distributions.

It'd be nice to centralize things, but no - there's no great comparisons between distributions. Most people are distributing things on their own site, so you have to rely on them to determine what's truly different in their distributions.
