i just got hacked, too. just delete their index file and replace it with the old one. should be easy enough. the trick is to find out which folder they put their script into.

How is the site hacked? It is impossible to see.

If hackers place an index.php or index.html file in the site, they can use upload function of modules you have installed like a gallery module or a chat module. This has happened me many times, but I have stopped that type of hacking, by using .htaccess and enable only my ip-adress to use that upload program. You can look at the time and date of the hacked file and then study the access logs to find out how the hack was made.
