I run a site where we need eye-catching "breaking news". Like, really eye-catching. Sadly (or wonderfully, depending on how you look at it), we must cater to (I know, I know) people who aren't so... you know... "The AOL Generation" as I like to call them, so just doing a news post isn't good enough.
Cut to the chase:
I want to hack the broadcast (public) message system so the message stays up there for as long as I specify. If it helps any, I am comfortable editing PHP and doing database work.
.. in fact, i've done a lot already, as you can imagine.

If it helps any this is what I found in nuke_public_messages:
Code:
                 mid      content      date      who
                   3    <message>    1071454171    Overlord

I have a feeling that maybe "date" values might be the solution...

In mainfile.php find this function towards the bottom: function public_message()

Modify the references to +600 to whatever you want. This is in seconds, btw.

Hm... This is a good idea to provide site users and administors with

1) public message duration
2) admin controls in admin CP
3) multiples.

Let me make a tweak code for this.

I do not make a certain hack package for a variant of PHP-Nuke. My tweak and Hack are always for all PHP-Nuke. This means that I do make an installation manual not for just overwriting packages. Also, I don't know well about what phpnuke plantium is. As always, my tweaking has a primary purpose that all tweaks must work under all php-nuke. So, the plain php-nuke or some variants to keep the most compatible with plain php-nukes are the best, I believe. But, installing my tweak (that I will make) is up to you. Please, DO NOT ASK me to make a package for platinum or other hybrid variants.

Not important.

Thank you for taking time to make the script.
